Who We Are
Grace Community Church was planted from Grace Presbyterian Church, Christchurch in 2024 with a burden to reach the South West of Christchurch. It is part of Grace Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. We kicked off with 16 adults and 16 kids in prayerful dependence that God would build His church!
Our goal is to reach as many of the 35,000 people living within 10 minutes of the Halswell Domain as possible with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to see thousands come to know Jesus and become mature disciples. Since we started God has grown us in lots of ways, but our mission has remained the same - to build Christ's church by prayerfully proclaiming the Word of God.
What We Believe
Firmly hold to the Bible as our rule of faith and life. (Hebrews 4:12-13)
Have a passion for God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and a passion for people. (Matthew 22:37-39)
Desire to seek to bring glory to God and to be aware of where He is leading us through His Word and Holy Spirit. (Colossians 1:28-29)
Dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are lost, both here in New Zealand and elsewhere. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Committed to the Reformed faith as the most consistent presentation and outworking of Biblical Christianity, as summarised in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
God gave the church His mission in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
Our Mission
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37)
LOVE for God compels us to be a church where God is the centre, and is worshipped as He has revealed Himself in his Word. Therefore, it is our joy to gather to worship Him and we are thoroughly committed to the Bible. It is where we meet Jesus the Word of Life, the only name by which we are saved. It’s God’s Word, sufficient to guide and equip into the new way of life in Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:16
You shall love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 22:39)
CARE for our neighbour moves us to be a family where we humbly and selflessly care for one another and our community. We are generous and diligent in all we do as we love and serve the world and especially one another in the unity of the Spirit, using the gifts God has given us for His Glory and the good of others. Galatians 6:9-10
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
Jesus’ burden to SHARE the good news and make disciples burdens us to be selfless and sacrificial for Jesus Mission and His Church. We are willing to be uncomfortable and unliked to share the only hope our community has. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:20)
Jesus’ vision is for every disciple to GROW to maturity in Him. Therefore, we are committed to teach and equip every disciple, young and old, to trust Jesus and walk in his way. Ephesians 4:15-16
